Internet Browser

IE 7 or greater, Firefox 2 or greater, browser set to accept cookies and to show the newest version of a page. If you plan on using a browser supplied by your Internet service provider (for example, AOL or WebTV) make sure it is the most recent version. We cannot guarantee that all course features will function in all non-Mozilla or Internet Explorer browsers though.

Microsoft Word

For saving files in DOC (Document Format).




E-mail software or a Web browser capable of supporting e-mail activity, including sending/receiving attached files.




Your course may require special (free) plug-ins to access streaming media, PDF files, or other web components. If this is the case, you will learn more about these special requirements when you’re accessing a specific page.



Windows Media Player

Windows Media Player is a free media player that you probably already have on your computer. Please check to ensure that you have the latest version (not beta) available. If you do not, please visit the Windows Media Player site to download the version appropriate for your operating system. There is a version available for the Mac operating system too.

A note about file viewers and plug-ins

Occasionally you may encounter course content in the form of specific file types that require specific applications in order to open and/or view. If you do not have the corresponding applications on your computer and/or if your browser lacks the capability to properly display these files, you should be able to view the files by downloading free viewers or plug-ins for specific file types. These links are provided here for your convenience. Please refer back to this page when/if necessary while taking any of our Moodle courses.
